Research in brief
Historically maca was used to enhance energy, stamina, physical performance, and libido. Recent research is bearing this out. The effect of 14 days of maca supplementation on the endurance performance of trained male cyclists found that maca extract significantly improved 40 km cycling time performance compared to the baseline test. Subjects also completed a sexual desire inventory and there was a significantly improved self-rated sexual desire score compared to baseline.

A double-blind clinical trial on 50 Caucasian men affected by mild dysfunction (ED), were randomized to take 2,400 mg of maca or a placebo. After 12 weeks, the men taking maca experienced a more significant increase in sexual satisfaction than those taking the placebo.

Recommended purpose :
